The Hotel Domus Aventina is situated in the heart
of historic Rome. Via di Santa Prisca, 11B, is located
extremely close to the famous Circus Maximus, renowned
for chariot races during the time of the Roman Empire. The Palatine
Hill, centremost of all the Seven Hills of Rome,
stands between the Circo Massimo and Roman
Forum. According to Roman mythology Romulus and Remus were
found on the Palatine Hill by the wolf that looked
after them. A shepherd then raised the children and Romulus went
on to found Rome. The origins of Rome do lie on the Palatine,
where recent excavations show that people have lived there since
1000 BC. The Roman Forum was the political, judicial
and commercial heart or the Roman Empire. The area is packed with
ancient monuments, temples and Roman arches.
Located on the second most important Roman hill, the Aventine
Hill, the Hotel Domus Aventina gifts guests
some of the most inspiring and spectacular views over Rome.
It is easy moving around Rome with its various means of public
transport: trams, buses, trains and the underground metro lines.
Trams and buses operate along Viale Aventino which runs
perpendicular to Circo Massimo. Circo Massimo metro
stop is 200 metres away from the hotel and links travellers to Termini
(three stops), the Colosseum (one stop) and the
Basilica San Paulo (three stops).
